Privacy Notice
Galith is a private, non-commercial website run by a private individual as a personal project. This notice explains what personal data is processed when you visit the site and what rights you have, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable German law. "Personal data" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable person.
1Who is responsible
The person responsible for data processing on this website (the "controller" under the GDPR) is:
Justus Schiller — operator of this private website
Bölschestraße 27, 30173 Hannover, Germany
Email: privacy@galith.com
This is a private, non-commercial site operated by a private individual; there is no company, no managing director and no data protection officer (none is required here).
2What data is processed
- Technical data — when you open the site, your browser automatically sends information such as your IP address, the approximate location derived from it, your device and browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of access (server logs).
- Contact data — if you choose to write to us, the name, email address and message content you provide.
- Cookie and usage data — information about how the site is used, collected through cookies and similar technologies. Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent (see section 4).
No special categories of data (Art. 9 GDPR) are intentionally collected. Please do not send such data unsolicited.
3Purposes and legal bases
Personal data is only processed where there is a legal basis under Art. 6 GDPR:
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Deliver and display the website; keep it secure and stable; prevent abuse | Technical data, server logs | Legitimate interest in a working, secure site, Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Respond to messages you send us | Contact data | Legitimate interest in replying, Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Analytics — understand how the site is used | Cookie and usage data | Your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) and § 25(1) TTDSG |
Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR); this does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
4Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to make the site work (for example, to store your cookie choice); these do not require consent (§ 25(2) TTDSG). Any analytics or other non-essential cookies are set only after you give consent through our cookie banner and are off by default. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page.
5Who your data is shared with
Your data is not sold. It may be processed by the hosting and infrastructure provider that runs this website on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR), and disclosed to authorities where we are legally required to do so.
6International transfers
We aim to keep processing within the European Economic Area (EEA). Where data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by an EU adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 44–49 GDPR).
7How long data is kept
Personal data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above and then deleted. Server logs are kept only briefly for security and then removed or anonymised. Messages you send are kept only as long as needed to deal with your request.
8Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you have the right to access your data (Art. 15), have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), restrict its processing (Art. 18), receive it in a portable format (Art. 20), object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21), and withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7(3)). To exercise any of these, contact privacy@galith.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). For a controller based in Hannover (Lower Saxony), the competent authority is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen (LfD Niedersachsen).
9Security and changes
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, though no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be fully secure. We may update this notice from time to time and will post the current version here with an updated date.
